About the Implementing Organization:

The Chin Center for Peace and Reconciliation (CCPR) is a registered local Non-Governmental Organization and established in 2016. CCPR’s vision is to make Myanmar a “Peaceful Country and Reconciled People,” with a mission to empower stakeholders and communities for successful democratization and sustainable peace. CCPR operates with a strong commitment to upholding the principles of transparency and accountability. These core values guide our actions and decisions as we work towards our vision. We believe that by promoting transparency, we can build trust within the communities we serve, as well as among our partners and supporters.

While the CCPR’s main office in Hakha and branch office in Yangon are temporarily closed due to the military coup, the organization continues to operate from cross-boundary areas between Burma and India. CCPR is engaged in various activities, including peace-building, policy advocacy, technical assistance, secretariat support, and humanitarian crisis and emergency relief responses to address the transitional and interim needs and requirements. Since the coup, CCPR has been supporting Chinland stakeholders in promoting democratic governance, including consolidating a Chinland Constitution and establishing a Chinland Government. The organization has been supporting Chin leaders and stakeholders, including the CNF, political parties, MPs, and various Chin community organizations, to promote inclusive participation, dialogue, and negotiations.

The Four Main Programs

1. Governance Program

Our Governance Program is dedicated to providing essential technical support to stakeholders in Chinland. We offer a range of resources, expertise, secretariat support, and financial assistance to bolster the effectiveness of key institutions. Our primary beneficiaries include the Chinland Council, Chinland Government, Chinland Court, judiciary sectors, legislative branch or parliament, and local government as well as civil society organizations.

2. Legal and Policy Research Program

Our Legal and Policy Research Program is dedicated to exploring a wide range of critical themes, encompassing local governance, policy studies, the judiciary system, legal matters, existing laws, customary laws as well as focuses on livelihood, humanitarian concerns, and civilian protection. To comprehensively address these complex issues, our program leverages a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, including assessments, surveys, data collection, and documentation.

Additionally, we actively collaborate with key institutions, including the legislative body, judiciary, and rule of law actors, with a particular emphasis on engagement with the police and prison systems.

The outcomes of our program are directed towards creating a positive impact through various means, including the publication of research findings, policy briefing papers, capacity-building initiatives, consultations, and advocacy efforts. By generating well-informed research and disseminating our insights, we are dedicated to enhancing decision-making processes, driving meaningful change, and ultimately contributing to the overall betterment of society.

3. Education Program

Our Education Program is dedicated to promoting informal education with a focus on vital topics such as local governance, policy development, public administration, organizational development, and civic education. We aim to empower a broad spectrum of participants, including political stakeholders, community and youth representatives, civil society organizations (CSOs), and church leaders.

This program employs a dynamic approach through a variety of engaging activities, including training sessions, workshops, informative talks, dialogues, conferences, academies, and personalized coaching. By making knowledge accessible and fostering a deeper understanding of these critical subjects, we are committed to building a more informed, empowered, and effective community that can actively contribute to positive change and development.

4. Humanitarian Program

In response to the pressing challenges posed by emerging crises, our Humanitarian Program places a primary emphasis on providing immediate relief and ensuring civilian protection. Simultaneously, we are committed to adopting a mixed-method approach that encompasses rehabilitation, livelihood support, and socio-psychological assistance to promote long-term resilience.

The beneficiaries of this program encompass a diverse group, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), women, individuals with disabilities, civilians affected by man-made disasters, and senior citizens. Our outreach extends across borders, facilitating cross-border humanitarian assistance.

Our initiatives encompass the distribution of non-food items, financial aid, and the establishment of micro-finance opportunities, all aimed at empowering and aiding those in need.

We are dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of our beneficiaries, and our commitment to transparency and impact extends to publishing comprehensive reports. In this way, we aim to make a meaningful and sustainable difference in the lives of those affected by crises.
